After two days of racing on the Paris 2024 Olympics, it isn’t solely the elite competitors that athletes should overcome in Marseille, France. Searing temperatures are posing an additional problem for Olympic sailors, with some donning ice vests to beat the warmth.
Daytime temperatures of round 30 Celsius (86°F), mixed with gentle breezes, means some are using “warmth protocols”.
“The warmth is admittedly dangerous and no less than that is cooling me down,” Czech ladies’s skiff crew Sara Tkadlecova mentioned of the ice vest she was sporting as she ready for racing. – Full report
