But what was served for dinner?

by Craig Leweck, Scuttlebutt Sailing News
I have attended the World Sailing Annual Conference as an observer, and there was always a lot to observe. Much of it was deep in the weeds, but gave sense for why the organization exists. Somebody has to deal with the details of the sport.

Thankfully, the World Sailing staff would provide a daily summary which would clear any confusion and fill in the blanks. These reports may not have been of broad interest, but I contend it is important for the world governing body for sailing to keep the curtains open.

However, these updates are now greatly reduced, or in the case of the 2025 Mid-Year Meeting on May 1-8, non-existent. They like to livestream now, which is a tortuous way to spend time. The final Council meeting had only 356 views… others agree. This was described as a virtual meeting, which is confusing as World Sailing, nearly two weeks afterwards, reports how the meeting was in the USA. – Full report
